Mark the Reveal

The casing molding around a door or window should be set back by about ¼ inch from the edge of the jamb. Mark a line using a square and a sharp pencil, along both sides and the header of the jamb.

Mark the Side Casings

The casing molding around a door or window should be set back by about ¼ inch from the edge of the jamb. Mark a line using a square and a sharp pencil, along both sides and the header of the jamb.

Mark the Casing Header

Mark the casing for the header holding a piece of molding upside down on the sides. Cut the molding and install as with the sides.

Set Nails and Putty Holes

Use a nail set to sink the nail heads, fill the holes with painter's putty and paint the casing.
